We made this deck and book as gifts for each other. Miden drew the images, Ana wrote the words, and then something cool happened that felt, quite simply, like magic. Now, we’re so excited to share these friendly objects with you and your friends.

Some more words about the deck

Miden: How do you want people to feel using the deck?

Ana: I want them to feel like they’re in good company, like we’ve established. I think that the joy of it truly has been that I was getting to think about what my very dear friend would find funny and find valuable. I mean all of them are written for you. The Hanged Man is really written for you. [laughing]

Miden: Incredible.

Ana: I tried to think, what is the genuinely intimate and loving tone of someone who knows you and loves you and knows you’re going to be fine, and wants to make sure you’re seeing everything that’s on the table.

[Pause]

How you want people to feel?

Miden: [Laughing] Sorry, there was appreciative silence. I have felt very taken care of. And I would like other people to feel that way too. That’s the hope, is that it’s transitive. And it’s fun if people get to use the deck with their friends—the cards as a jumping off point for conversations between friends would be nice. And if they laugh...!!!

Ana: The other thing that I realized I didn’t say is I would be so delighted by your interpretations of things, by how playful and fun they were. You know, again, how witty, how clever, how surprising. It was such a treat and they feel so singularly you. So I think for people who already are familiar with Tarot, I really hope people have fun encountering such different and delightful versions
of the cards, and for people who are new to tarot, I just hope it’s the friendliest welcome!

Miden: Well, and also just what a fun description of friendship: unpredictable delights!

Ana: Anything else we need to say?

Miden: Nothing I can think of.

Ana: Well—!
